What is the Canada PR visa?

      How to apply to Canada PR?

      From 2020 to 2023, Canada will have more than one million immigrants. There are more than 80 pathways through which Canada PR status is attained, and the Canadian government is committed to keeping things simple and easy.       1. Express Entry Program

      It is a fast track program through which Skilled foreign workers can relocate to Canada in six months. The Express Entry program was first introduced in 2015, and since then, it is one of the most popular and successful pathways of Canada immigration.

      There are three sub-streams of the Express Entry program, and the applicant needs to meet the eligibility criterion of at least one to be selected.

       

      To be selected in the express entry program, the applicant will have to participate in the Express Entry draw. The applicant needs to have a profile created in the express entry system From which he/she will meet the minimum required Comprehensive ranking system (CRS) score as announced, and on meeting the score, the IRCC will send the Invitation to Apply (ITA)s. Once the ITA is achieved, it needs to be responded in 90 days. It means that after getting the ITA, the desiring applicant can file for Canada PR visa.

      As per the last Express Entry Draw announced on 19th August 2020, 600 ITAs were sent to the applicants with the CRS score of 771. It was a Provincial Nominee Program-specific draw for Canada. In the time of the COVID 19 pandemic, there have been many program-specific draws that are conducted by the IRCC. The latest all program express entry draw was conducted on 5th August 2020, in which 3900 applicants were selected with the CRS score of 476.

      2. Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)

      The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is a provincial pathway to get Canada PR visa, and it is a saving grace for all those applicants who could not immigrate through the express entry program. The PNP pathway allows provinces with the right to select a skilled foreign worker as per the labor market demand. PNP is a rather cheaper alternative to Express Entry, and some provinces also offer fast processing as well.

      Of course, every province's requirement is different based on which the eligibility criterion of every applicant also differs.

      Some of the eligibility criteria of a few prominent provinces are listed below:

      • Saskatchewan asks a minimum score of 60 out of 100 on its point grid.
      • Ontario asks for a score that is "determined by the director" for that draw. Certain times the score as low 400 or even lower is accepted by the province.
      • Nova Scotia wants the candidate's occupation to be in-demand in the region.

       

      Further, being selected in the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) also allows applicants with the right to have 600 extra points in the Federal express entry system.

      3. Quebec Skilled Workers Program (QSWP)

      The Quebec Skilled Workers Program (QSWP) is a Quebec province program, and it is a point-based system that is operated separately from the Governments own programs for Skilled workers. Quebec province used a new system called Arrima in July 2019 to invited the applicants for the first time. For the Quebec Skilled Workers Program, the applicants who have a validated job offer in the province and temporary residents need to submit and apply for CSQ for regular intake. The candidate can also go through the Quebec Experience Program (PEQ). French Proficiency Is mandatory for PEQ. However, overall, Quebec province places a lot of importance on the knowledge of the French language. The Single applicants for immigration to Quebec need to have 43 points on the point threshold, and with an accompanying spouse or common-law partner, it is 52 points.

      • From your CIC account you can apply for Express Entry
      • Use the code provided earlier during the eligibility test to create your Express Entry Account.
      • Job Bank registration is required
      • Be ready with the reference letters from previous employers and current employer
      • Documents needed – birth certificate, medical checkup reports, marriage certificate, passport, bank statements.
      • Apply officially for a Canada Permanent Residency Visa. – This is a step to undertaken within 90 days of receiving the ITA (`Invitation to Apply)
      • Arrive in Canada –There is a fee that is paid by all candidates after arriving in Canada. It is mandatory to be paid and is approximately 490$ CAD.

In 2020, a single applicant immigrating to Canada will require CAD 12960 to qualify for the Canada PR visa. A couple would need CAD 16135 in the settlement funds and an additional CAD 3492 for every added family member.
